Valve Seat Replacement
The valve seat is the surface that the intake and exhaust valves sit on when the valves are closed. The valve seat is a vital part of the combustion procedure. If the valve is not seated properly it can cause combustion gasses to leak so reducing compression.
Over time a valve seat can be worn which can reduce its compression. If it is not possible to resurface the seat due to the excessive wear Statfold Engineering can remove and fit a new valve seat.
Valve seats are an important part of altering engines to run on unleaded fuel. Whe doing a conversion, you should change the exhaust seats with a harder wearing material due to the increase of temperature during the combustion procedure.
Valve Guide Replacment
With each inlet and exhaust valve there is a valve guide fitted into the cylinder head. The valve guide connects the valve to the valve seat so it creates suitable contact between them. Guides also serve to conduct heat away from the exhaust valve to the cylinder head.
If an engine suffers a disastrous failure or cam belt failure, the valve guides can crack due to the valve bending. If this is the case, Statfold Engineeing can remove the broken valve guides and change them with new guides.
